Why employer branding is critical

In a competitive talent market, employer branding is not a "nice to have". It is the difference between receiving 200 applications for a position or 20. According to LinkedIn (2025), companies with a strong employer brand reduce cost per hire by 43% and time-to-hire by 50%. The best candidates do not look for jobs. The best candidates choose where to work.

Employer branding has three components:

  1. Internal reality: what it is really like to work here. Culture, management, development, compensation. If the reality is bad, no marketing will compensate.
  2. External perception: how potential candidates perceive us. Glassdoor, LinkedIn, social media, word of mouth.
  3. Communication: how we tell our story to the talent market. Careers page, content, events, advertising.

AI can help significantly with components 2 and 3. And it can give you data to improve component 1. But it cannot substitute an authentic company culture.

The authenticity rule

If your company has a culture problem (toxic management, below-market salaries, lack of development), AI can help you mask it in communication. Do not do it. Candidates discover the truth in the first weeks. The result: early turnover, negative reviews, and an even worse employer brand. Fix the reality first. Then communicate it.

Defining your EVP (Employee Value Proposition) with AI

The EVP is the answer to the question: "Why should someone want to work here instead of at the competition?" It is not a slogan. It is the set of benefits, experiences and values you offer employees in exchange for their talent and commitment.

The 5 pillars of EVP

How AI helps define the EVP

Prompt to define your EVP

"Help me define my company's EVP. Context: [sector, size, location, work model]. What our employees value (from surveys): [list]. What we offer: [list of real benefits]. Our competitors for talent: [list]. Their strengths as employers: [list]. Generate: 1) EVP statement (3-4 sentences, authentic, not generic). 2) 5 EVP pillars with what we offer in each. 3) 3 unique differentiators versus competition. 4) 3 key messages adapted to different profiles (technical, sales, executive)."

Careers page content

Your careers page is your storefront for talent. And most careers pages are terrible: a vacancy list with no context, stock photos of people smiling in an office that does not exist, and corporate text that could belong to any company in the world.

Content AI can generate

Prompt for department page

"Write the careers page content for the [department] department. The team has [N] people, led by [name/position]. Recent projects: [list]. Tech stack / tools: [list]. What makes this team special: [list]. Generate: 1) Team description (1 paragraph, human tone). 2) What you will do here (5 bullets of real, not generic responsibilities). 3) Profile we are looking for (5 bullets of skills and attitudes). 4) A typical day (1-paragraph narrative). 5) CTA to view open positions. Total length: 400-500 words."

Managing Glassdoor and Indeed with AI

Glassdoor is the "TripAdvisor of employment". 86% of candidates read company reviews before applying (Glassdoor, 2024). A rating below 3.5 stars significantly reduces the volume and quality of applications.

How AI helps manage Glassdoor

Prompt for responding to negative reviews

"Write a response to this negative Glassdoor review: [paste review]. The response should: 1) Thank the feedback. 2) Acknowledge valid points without justifying or excusing. 3) Briefly mention concrete actions the company is taking to improve in that area (if any). 4) Invite the person to contact directly (HR email) to go deeper. Tone: empathetic, professional, not defensive. Length: 100-150 words. Do NOT deny the problems or use empty phrases like 'we value your opinion'."

Social recruiting: content to attract talent

Social recruiting is using social media (LinkedIn, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok) to attract talent. It is not posting job openings on LinkedIn (that is job posting). It is creating content that makes candidates want to work at your company before there is an open vacancy.

Content types with AI

Content calendar with AI

"Generate a 30-day employer branding content calendar for LinkedIn. Frequency: 3 posts/week. Company: [sector, size, profiles sought]. Mix: 40% culture (team stories, values), 30% educational (industry trends), 20% vacancies (with storytelling, not just the listing), 10% engagement (questions, polls). For each post: day, topic, format (text, carousel, video, poll), content idea (2 sentences), and CTA."

Employee advocacy: your employees as ambassadors

Content published by individual employees has 561% more reach than content published by the company page (MSLGroup). And generates 8 times more engagement. Candidates trust what employees say more than what the company says.

How AI facilitates employee advocacy

The golden rule of employee advocacy

Never force it. Never ask them to publish something written by marketing. Give tools, suggestions, and time for them to do it. Forced content is obvious. Authentic content is too. The difference is that authentic content works.

Automated candidate nurturing

Candidate nurturing is the practice of maintaining a relationship with candidates you did not hire (or who are not looking now) so they keep you in mind when they are ready. It is the equivalent of email marketing, but for talent.

Nurturing flow with AI

  1. Capture: the candidate enters your talent pool (applied and was not selected, signed up for your careers newsletter, attended an event).
  2. Segmentation: AI classifies the candidate by profile (technical, sales, executive), experience and department of interest.
  3. Personalized content: AI generates nurturing emails adapted to the segment. A developer receives technical articles. A salesperson receives success stories. An executive receives leadership content.
  4. Frequency: 1 email per month is sufficient. More is spam. Less, they forget you.
  5. Reactivation: when a relevant vacancy opens, AI identifies talent pool candidates who match and generates a personalized reactivation message.

Prompt for nurturing email

"Generate a nurturing email for a [technical/sales/executive] profile candidate who applied [X months] ago and was not selected. Objective: maintain the relationship and position the company as an attractive place to work. Include: 1) Personalized greeting. 2) Value content relevant to their profile (an article, a data point, an event). 3) Brief company update (growth, new project, achievement). 4) Soft CTA (not 'apply now', but 'let's stay in touch'). Tone: approachable, not corporate. Length: 150-200 words."

Employer branding metrics

Common employer branding mistakes with AI

  1. Promising what you are not. AI can generate wonderful texts about your culture. If the culture is not wonderful, the candidate will discover it and penalize you on Glassdoor. Authenticity first.
  2. All AI, zero human. Posts 100% generated by AI are noticeable. They are correct but soulless. The AI draft + human personalization is the winning combination.
  3. Ignoring Glassdoor. Not responding to negative reviews is worse than the negative review itself. Candidates look at how the company responds, not just the complaint.
  4. Posting vacancies without storytelling. A LinkedIn post saying "We are looking for a Data Engineer" gets 0 engagement. A post saying "We are building the data platform that will process 10 million transactions per day. We need a Data Engineer excited by that challenge" gets 10x more.
  5. Not measuring. If you do not know how many applications come from organic vs paid channels, you do not know if your employer branding works. Measure before and after.

Glassdoor, LinkedIn, redes sociales, boca a boca.
Despues comunicala.

Definir tu EVP (Employee Value Proposition) con IA

  • Compensacion:salario, bonus, equity, beneficios tangibles.
  • Balance:flexibilidad, remoto, conciliacion, bienestar.
